More than 555,500 new jobs have been created since I became your Lieutenant Governor. We are #1 in job growth among the Great Lakes states and 6th in the nation. We are #1 in America in new manufacturing jobs in addition to seeing diverse growth across all sectors. Incomes are rising at a top 10 pace, and Detroit is America’s comeback city. Michigan is on the rise.

When Rick and I were first elected, the state had just been through a decade-long financial and economic crisis. Michigan needed bold leadership, and that’s exactly what I brought to the table.

We not only fixed it; Michigan is now a model for the nation. We are 8 for 8 in passing balanced budgets months ahead of schedule. We reduced the state’s debt by over $20 billion, and we deposited more than $1 billion into the rainy-day fund.

The Snyder/Calley team delivered on our promise to reinvent Michigan. In fact, our biggest problem today is that job growth is outpacing workforce availability. But this election is not about where we’ve been or how far we’ve come. It’s about the future. It’s about building on the strong foundation we have laid and bringing Michigan to the next level.

I am running for Governor to make Michigan the most prosperous state in the nation. I represent a new generation, and in a time of extreme polarization and soundbite candidates, a real and sincere approach to public service.

Please join me.

An Agenda to Take Michigan to the Next Level

Not too long ago, Michigan’s biggest problem was a lack of jobs. Seven years and more than 555,500 new jobs later, our economy has outgrown our workforce. Michigan businesses large and small say they just can’t find enough people with the right skills to fill all the jobs being created. As problems go, this is a good one to have. Yet, at the same time that we have extraordinary job growth, there are too many people without a job and living on social services. Brian will fix that.

Calley’s Stances on Important Issues

Faith and Family

Faith and family are the cornerstones of Brian’s life. They shape who he is and how he sees the world.

Life is precious and made in the very image of God. From conception to natural death, Brian is pro-life.

2nd Amendment

Brian supports the right to bear arms as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment. Law-abiding citizens have the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Tax Reform

Brian has a strong record of cutting taxes and is determined to continue creating a tax climate in Michigan that is competitive, simple and fair.

Common Core

Brian supports the repeal of Common Core in favor of a more flexible, locally-controlled educational system.

Prevailing Wage

Michigan’s Prevailing Wage Law unnecessarily increases taxpayer costs and should be repealed.

No Fault Auto Insurance

Michigan must implement reforms to make auto insurance more affordable, while still providing quality coverage for those injured in auto accidents.

Limited Government

The best government is a limited government where people can chase their hopes and dreams without government getting in the way. Our system needs to work better for the taxpayers and Brian will continue to advocate for measures that will limit government, including a part-time legislature, busting bureaucracies and shrinking the size and cost of government.

Line 5

To say that Brian is extraordinarily disappointed with Enbridge would be an understatement. The fact that coating on the line had been damaged a few years ago and was only recently disclosed is a very big problem. It creates a trust issue and we cannot afford to just take their word. There’s too much at stake. We need to set a deadline to find an alternative that eliminates the risk without causing a spike in fuel costs.
